Glee! Could a set of woodland engagement photographs capture the season any more joyfully? I love these images sent to me by Brides Up North reader Faye and David Stubbs Photography. We’ll let Faye and Anthony get on with their dancing in the leaves shortly, but first let’s hear Faye tell us more…

Faye says: Anthony proposed in May 2012 when we visited the island of La Palma in the Canaries. After nearly four years I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping he would soon, but I was surprised! Anthony seized a beautiful moment so didn’t propose with a ring, but true to tradition Anthony proposed on one knee in front of the amazing sunset we were watching over the sea. We chose a ring together when we returned home from our holiday, just two days after my birthday, a birthday to remember!

At first we explored the possibility of getting married abroad, mainly because we wanted amazing photos to be able to look back on and we didn’t want traditional English weather to ruin them. However, after much deliberation we decided it just wasn’t us to get married abroad we wanted to stick with our Northern roots. I did some research and found a photographer (David Stubbs Photography) that I am confident will get amazing photos whatever the weather. We will be getting married at St John’s church in our home town of Failsworth and our reception will be held at Brookdale Golf Club in Woodhouses, Failsworth.

We first met six years ago when we were 18, through mutual friends. We dated for a few months but being young we went our separate ways. After 18 months apart we decided we didn’t want to be apart any longer and have been together for four years now. True to the saying, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. When I still felt the same way about Anthony 18 months after separating I knew there was something special. When our paths met again I knew he was the one.

Reunited, our student and apprentice wages took us on a lovely burger and a beer for a fiver first date at Lloyds bar in Manchester! We weren’t complaining though, we continued the same date routine both in Liverpool where I was at University and Manchester for the next seven months!

For both of us we love each others sense of humour, they’re both stupid! For me, I love that I can be completely myself and silly with Anthony and he’ll always laugh!

Our biggest wish for married life definitely that nothing changes. I love Anthony just the way he is and would not want marriage to change anything about our relationship.

We chose to have an engagement shoot because we’ll really enjoy having photos to look back on; they trigger the exact memory from the moment in time they’ve captured. David was fantastic! We were both nervous for the engagement shoot but both really enjoyed it. We’ll be more at ease for the photos on our wedding day now and can spend all our time worrying about saying our vows!

I love Brides Up North because many blogs aren’t specific to any area in particular. Bride’s Up North is perfect for us that are always unwilling to stray too far from our roots! We’ll definitely be back to share the photos from our big day with Brides Up North!
