Over the festive period I’ll be recapping some of my very favourite Real Weddings from the last 12 months on the wedding blog. It’s been a tough choice! In true Brides Up North style, each wedding featured on these pages is unique, beautiful and gorgeously personal. It’s been an exceptionally fabulous year! Enjoy…

Sometimes, a Real Wedding will be so gorgeous that (a) I can’t believe it’s not a styled bridal shoot and (b) I really wish that I had been a guest. Rachel and Matt’s fabulous Yorkshire wedding with images by Brides Up North Featured Supplier Andrew Scott Clarke is one of those.

You are going to love this.

Rachel says: Matt asked me to marry him in the infinity pool at Cameron House overlooking rolling hills and lochs of Scotland and we were married on 14 September 2012 at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, Yorkshire.

As l work in events I wanted somewhere different- not on the normal wedding circuit. Matt and I wanted to combine a classic ceremony with something a bit different – and Duncombe ticked all the boxes! We also love the village and have visited often as a couple.

My favourite part of the day was the ceremony – the vows we made to each other and seeing each other for the first time.

I was very set on the style of the day and opted for classic elegance for the day with a rustic secret garden party night, with a colour palette of ivory, champagne, blush and grey.

I chose a Manuel Mota for Pronovias gown from Bridal Rogue Gallery York. I knew that I wanted a simple but striking wedding dress with a low back.
.
My bridesmaid in a stunning taupe Amanda Wakeley dress and the whole groom’s party was in grey – grey and white ties with Matt wearing a blush and white tie.

I carried a bouquet of blush and ivory avalanche roses. This and all our stunning floral displays were by Horti-couture Florists.

We made every decision for the wedding based on our lives – the wines were wines we drank, the food was our favourite food and so on.
.
We chose a simple three tiered white cake with types of sponge (lemon and plain) with grey ribbon by Celebrations.

We did a lot ourselves – I made the wedding rings and we had personalised homemade favours (raspberry jam for ladies and raspberry vodka for gents), a USA postal box for cards (I am half American) and all our stationery was homemade.

We had a secret night venue by Papakata that no one knew about until we led everyone into the woods after dinner!

We hired The Night Jars band who were amazing ! They went above and beyond and mixed the two songs we wanted for our first dance especially for us.

After the wedding we honeymooned in Santorini. Just beautiful.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to follow your heart. It’s too easy to get caught up what you think you should be doing. Just do what you what makes you both happy!

Congratulations Rachel & Matt!
