I often see pale pastel blues and purples being used for Spring and Summer celebrations, but real bride Lyndsay and new husband Nathan used the muted background tones of their venue to add depth and interest to their pretty Winter wonderland wedding in Wetherby.

Lyndsay says: We got engaged on December 3rd 2011 at Titanic Spa in Huddersfield, and were married a year later on 15th December 2012 at The Priory Cottages, Near Wetherby.

We fell in love with the venue straight away, it was unique, modern and in a beautiful location. We wanted the wedding and reception on the same site and The Priory is very unique in the fact that you can decorate it how you want. It is also private, only your wedding is held there on the day and you have the whole venue, including cottages as accommodation from Friday to Sunday. We loved the fact that no one else would be getting married on the same day at the same venue.

We opted for a Winter wonderland theme with a white marquee and mulberry touches in the bridesmaids’ outfits and groomsmen’s ties, mixed in with the flowers.

I wore a Maggie Sottero dress which was mermaid style with lace and beading detail. Nathan wore a grey suit and white shirt with tan shoes. My bridesmaids wore mulberry coloured dresses from Coast and the groomsmen wore a darker shade of grey to Nathan.

I carried a bouquet of deep plum, salmon and cream, mixture of roses, eucalyptus and other antique flowers by Elizabeth Anne, Wakefield.

My very favourite part of the day was the ceremony and seeing Nathan for the first time. Nathan’s was seeing me in my dress walking up the aisle.

We made our own favours- snowflake tree decorations, so that guests could take them away and use them as a decoration each year.

We used lots of candles & lanterns and had Christmas carols being played by a live pianist – very festive!

Rather than a traditional wedding cake, we chose individual cupcakes then a large cupcake for the top tier by Buttercream Cupcakes. Natasha who owns the company also provided our chair covers, lanterns and the post box we used for cards.

We honeymooned in New York over Christmas.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to enjoy every second of the actual day. Ensure you make decisions together through the build up and that way the day is your special day as a couple.
