I don’t know if it’s the fact that my husband got down on one knee there (pretty much in the spot exactly above, actually) or just the enduring and ceaseless romance of the city, but to me, there’s nowhere better to be in love than in Paris.
Brides Up North reader Becci clearly agrees, as it was there that she and future hubby Ian chose to celebrate their engagement, taking Brides Up North Featured Supplier Stan Seaton Photography along for the ride too.
Stan and Jane have worked closely with Becci in the past in her role as Senior Wedding Co-ordinator at the beautiful Rockliffe Hall – and have always wanted to photograph an engaged couple in Paris – so when Becci & Ian said they would love to have their engagement shoot there, they couldn’t resist.
Stan says: Paris certainly is the perfect romantic setting, it’s beauty strikes you at every turn, with it’s elegant but impressive architecture, iconic monuments and subtle combination of art, history and nature we were all blown away. A photographers dream! The weather as ever was a challenge and on our first day we had torrential rain and on the second day it was rather murky to say the least, but eventually the Eiffel Tower and the sun emerged through the fog, to create a dreamy and mystical backdrop, perfect!
Becci says: Ian proposed on Christmas Day 2011 at home, it was a complete surprise and he picked the perfect ring! We are getting married at Rockliffe Hall in March 2014.
We worked together at Fitness First after I’d left school, had been friends ever since, getting together eight years later. For our first date we met in Yarm for a few drinks and laughed the night away, complete and utter love at first sight even eight years later!
I love how we are the male and female equivalent of each other, we have the same sense of humour and never stop having fun!
Our biggest wish for married life is to start a family and live a long and happy life together – the best piece of advice we were given was "make sure you have fun every day!"
We chose to have an engagement shoot as I have worked with Stan and Jane over the years but really wanted Ian to get to know them as I wouldn’t have picked anyone else!
We loved every minute (excluding the flight home!) and have pictures up all over the house – we are even using one for guests to sign at the wedding.
