Happy Fri-yay! To get your weekend off to a fabulously pretty start we’re sharing this gorgeous real wedding which took place up in the North East.

To complement the setting of their indoor ceremony at Woodhill Hall, Lee and Lianne decided on a rustic theme with

pretty vintage touches

added along the way which remained in keeping with their romantic colour scheme. In particular we love the blousy blooms and elegant detailed wedding cake!

For their evening celebrations the bride, groom and their guests then moved onto a beautifully decorated tepee in the venue’s grounds, where the real party got underway!

lianne says:

We got engaged whilst on holiday in Benalmadena, southern Spain. On the way to a restaurant on the harbour we took a romantic stroll along the pier to a lighthouse for what I thought was to take some photos. Lee then asked me to close my eyes and when I opened them he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

We got married on Saturday 18th July 2015, at Woodhill Hall, Otterburn, Northumberland.

In terms of the venue we were looking for something a bit different and less traditional. When we walked into Woodhill Hall we instantly looked at each other and said what a lovely feeling the venue had. The fact we had the hall to ourselves for a weekend with 13 rooms to have our family and friends stay with us made it so much more personal. There was no doubt after we took our first viewing it was the right venue for us.

After we booked Woodhill Hall, Corrinne, the owner, purchased some tepees. When we went to take a look at them, there was no discussion over adding them for the night-time reception, it was a must! We absolutely fell in love with the venue and the staff were always so welcoming and made everyone feel at home.

Our chosen theme for the wedding was a bit of a mix between vintage and rustic. Our colour scheme was blush pink and white.

When dress shopping, I chose the Sottero & Midgley Justina design. I wanted something fitted with lots of detail but something different. I loved the subtle sparkle of the dress, the back and the gorgeous detail of the lace. It was from a bridal shop called Proposals in Chichester West Sussex, as that is where my family are from.

Our bridesmaids and groomsmen were all in Ted Baker. The bridesmaids’ dresses were from the Ted Baker store and the groomsmen’s suits were Ted Baker from Moss Bros.

On the wedding day I had a bouquet from Floral Quarter made with carnations, roses and gypsophila, along with some wild flowers. I had some brooches intertwined in the flowers including one my granddad had bought for my nan before he passed away as my something borrowed. It was a really special touch, as my nan wasn’t able to make the day.

Deluxe Occasions provided the chair decorations for the venue and I handmade all of the table names and some of the decorations for the tables too, which made it feel much more personal. The tables were all named after clubs in Ibiza as we met there ten years ago to the week we got married. The top table was called Eden, which was the name of the club we met in.

When it came to our wedding cake, we took a specific picture to the Great British Cupcakery of exactly what we wanted, which was a vintage cake with a teacup on the top and hand decorated flowers painted on. We chose a different flavour for each tier – chocolate, lemon and red velvet. They did a fantastic job, it was delicious and it was exactly how we wanted it.

To provide entertainment we had an acoustic guitarist and singer called Andy Usher, for the ceremony and drinks reception, and a DJ from Bride and Groove for the evening. We also had a photo booth provided by Pictures Forever.

Looking back at our wedding it’s hard to pick a favourite part of the day. The meal and the speeches marked the start of the amazing atmosphere of the day, everyone was on such a high. Then when it came to the night-time we loved welcoming everyone into the tepees and the music played by our DJ’s was fabulous and meant that the dance floor was never empty.

Following our wedding we spent four nights in the Encore at The Wynn in Vegas and then went on to Sandals in Barbados for a further seven nights for our honeymoon. The two destinations provided the perfect contrast.

It’s easy to say now, but my top tip to other Brides Up North would have to be to try not to stress – everything comes together on the day. Just relax and enjoy!
