Our original theme for the styled wedding shoot was ‘Indian Summer’, however our great British weather had other plans for us on the day of the photoshoot with torrential rain and wind, which was just typical. Ideally we would have rescheduled, but the tipis we used from Boutipi were only available on that day so we had to tweak things a little and change the look to represent a more autumnal bride.
I first met with the owners of Boutipi, sisters Sam and Michelle, at their wedding open day a few weeks prior to the shoot and they instantly saw my vision for the styled shoot. They were so accommodating and on the day offered a handful of the styling vendors they work with to help out with the décor. The interior of the tipi was styled beautifully with items including vintage china, paper pom poms and 4ft illuminated ‘love’ letters. This was a combined effort by H2B, Pretty Yorkshire Vintage, Cherry Williams and the Pom Pom Studio, who were all really keen to be part of the shoot.
Beautiful fresh flowers and leaves, including Miss Piggy roses, dahlias, wax flowers, eucalyptus and astilbe, were used to add further colour to the shoot. These were supplied by Rachael at The Daisy Chain in Skirlaugh, East Yorkshire, who also created an outstanding floral head garland and matching bouquet for our models.

The beautiful dresses meanwhile came from Forever Bridal, a small exclusive boutique based at Willerby Manor Hotel in East Yorkshire. The owner Rachel and I picked out dresses from the boutique’s stunning collections that made a subtle statement and that looked amazing in the relaxed setting of the tipi. Footwear for the models came from The Rainbow Club.
To complete the models’ looks, hair and makeup was taken care of by Jess Reynolds. To fit in with the theme, Jess created simple boho curls; a very loose soft wave for Evie, and a messier boho wave for Emilia. Again Jess kept the makeup very soft and minimalistic to enhance the models’ natural beauty, whilst keeping in line with the boho theme. Products used included Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Mac and HD.

All the suppliers involved with the shoot were fantastic. We had our challenges on the day with the weather and had to think quickly when it came to lighting but the Boutipi men managed to change up the lighting and the fantastic light up letters from H2B worked really well with the new indoor theme. The models Evie McCormick and Emilia Smith, were fantastic to work with and we all had a great time. We achieved something spectacularly different to what we had originally set out to do, but everyone was thrilled with the final results.

Most of the suppliers who contributed to the shoot (myself included) are busy working mums who juggle trying to get the perfect work / life balance through hard work and passion. I found that by working with a group of likeminded suppliers you can create something really amazing. As such we are looking to collaborate on more shoots in the future and I’m already working closely with some of the individual suppliers from the shoot to create mini features concentrating on their brands and products. I’m also looking to create a local supplier network on my photography website as a one-stop shop for local and regional brides and grooms-to-be to browse suppliers from one area.
