We are feeling the independent women vibes loud and proud on the blog today as we share with you this totally awesome and utterly gorgeous styled shoot put together by a talented collective of female independent Yorkshire wedding suppliers, who specialise in cool!
Boasting a fabulous colour block interior, plants aplenty and exposed brickwork, the setting for the shoot – Nice Neighbourhood in Sheffield – is an alternative big day backdrop that shouts individuality and style. And giving us all the inspo on how this quirky space can be used for such celebrations is stylist and coordinator Ellie, of Inner City Weddings, who was immediately drawn to the venue’s chilled laid-back vibes.
And the quirkiness doesn’t end there, as the suppliers brought their A-game to help craft a fitting tropical botanical meets boho theme, featuring an abundance of ferns and leaves and a sun-drenched peachy palette.
As you may have already guessed, the bride isn’t in your average wedding day attire either – instead the model is rocking fringed detail separates and a coral, botanical illustrated leather jacket to complete the shoot’s edgy boho twist. The result? Scroll down to see for yourself!

: Nice Neighbourhood is a lovely inner-city space which would be ideal for a laidback, urban wedding reception. We wanted to bring it to the attention of couples that are searching for a unique space with a lovely interior where the ethos and vibe is chilled, laid-back and independent, independent, independent! If they’re into block colour and plants, this could be a strong contender!
Inspiration
Theme wise, we just worked with what was there and went a bit tropical botanical meets boho, collaborating with our industry pals.
We love the decor and versatility of the space. We wanted to give everyone the creative freedom to enjoy designing and making new pieces to complement it. It’s always great to get a new canvas and see what magic happens within it.

Styling
Tracey from Campbell’s Flowers chose ferns and tropical leaves and made an awesome freestanding installation, which was a real focal point for some of our bridal shots. We also had beautiful stationery and a hand-painted leather jacket from Wildwood Paper.
Meanwhile, Angela from The Snowdrop Cakery made a couple of different cakes; one which was fun and informal to complement some of the colour blocking, and another more stylish and modern minimal creation. Both were beautiful. The fact we got to eat the one with macarons on the top means that one gets my vote! And yes, it tasted amazing.
Attire
I’ve followed Shikoba Bride since its inception as I’ve worked with the designers behind the brand before and I think they’re very creative, inspirational women. Their fringe dress immediately caught my eye on the ‘gram and I was even happier when the lovely Claire at The White Yard told me she’d be stocking it. The pieces of the puzzle just all came together at the right time, I guess (thank you, universe!).

Beauty
We got Laura on board from Craft Makeup as she’s great. Nice Neighbourhood is literally the perfect backdrop for her and her brand. It just made sense! Again, she had free reign on the looks and created a daytime and night-time look on our model, Issy.
Results
Honestly, it was one of the best Sundays in a while. Such a great group of talented women who are all so good at what they do. And there was cake and cocktails! Ideal hang time with my gal pals, to be honest. The images from the shoot have to be some of my favourite we’ve ever been involved in. They’re top notch.
