The stunning East Yorkshire Wolds provides the enchanting backdrop to this ‘mini’ bridal shoot at the gorgeously pretty Manors Rooms in South Cave.
Very much playing on those inside out feels, the shoot – led by Ellen from LND Events – brings together a host of the venue’s most trusted suppliers.
Taking the lead from the venue’s decor, with its dreamy colour palette of teal, corals and gold – the team complemented these tones with understated, elegant styling details. We’re talking bud vases, balloons, a wicker sofa adorned with blooms and the most beautiful of tablescapes, featuring pastel-hued stationery and delicate macaroons.
The shoot also spotlights a handpicked selection of what we can only describe as show-stopping wedding gowns. Just wait until you see the White April dress with its princess-like draping panel blowing in the breeze – a fabulous alternative to the traditional veil that’s giving us wedding dress envy! Location & inspiration
Ellen says
:Having been put forward as a recommended supplier, I was keen to work with The Manor Rooms to arrange a mini shoot alongside other talented names on their list.The venue has been styled with chairs that are very much the talking point. With tones of sage, dark teal and floral details of coral and gold, it seemed logical to work with these accents than against them, so the teal and coral became the main basis of the shoot.
The venue is fully licensed for weddings with the option of using the glass-fronted mezzanine level or the main room. I wanted the shoot to focus on bringing the outside in, with the stunning views that the Manor Rooms boasts in the background of the scenes.
Styling
I enlisted Balloons By Amy to install a balloon demi-arch across a section of the bi-folding doors to frame the aforementioned scenery. The ceremony space was more of an assumption than a full layout.
The venue has a stunning secret garden room around the corner from the main function area, which is where I chose to set up the dinner table. This is exactly what the room has been designed for: intimate, private dining -although with larger parties, it can also be used as a chill out space too. In here I wanted to work with the styled botanical theme, using the venue’s own crockery in white and sage green to match the chair seats and candles that matched the corals and teals.
Tiers of Joy created macaroons and chocolates in matching colours that were laid out for guests to snack on and HCA Weddings designed floral-based stationery to compliment the theme.
Hare and Howl floristry created a beautiful, relaxed centrepiece with complimentary bud vases to scatter amongst the candles and fill the table.
The Manor Rooms also has some luxurious, deep teal, velvet chairs and pouffes. These made great additions to the flatlay sections and close ups of the florals and cake, which was provided by Cake Creations by Jill Fisher.
For the last few scenes, I asked Born Boho to provide some of their chill out furniture to show how it could be used in the venue for couples who like a more boho, relaxed vibe. We used a beautiful wicker sofa dressed with florals from Hare and Howl and a peacock chair adorned with greenery.
Attire
I had seen one of the dresses (the White April one) on Chloe Jane Bridal Wear’s Instagram and really wanted to work with it, but I completely trusted Chloe and Emily’s choices once I’d given them the brief. They brought along a fantastic selection of gowns, shoes and beautiful accessories.
We actually shot the table scenes first and when our model, Bronte joined the table, she was wearing a Zavana creation. Professional hair and makeup artist Mazz Loxton gave Bronte loose waves with a pearly star clip to the side of her head for these looks.
We then moved onto the ceremony scenes and switched Bronte up into Zavana Couture from the SS20 collection and Mazz gave her a ponytail up do with different accessories.
For the final scenes we changed Bronte into the most stunning gown from White April’s SS20 collection, for her to relax against the furniture and really show close up details of the dress. Mazz added a star headband to an updo and gave her a stronger eye to complete the look.
The White April dress had amazing draping panel detail from the shoulders and Stewart Barker, our photographer, managed to capture the gentle breeze, showing how panels can work as an alternative to a veil.
Beauty
We kept the makeup look very natural, as I really love working with artists who know how to accentuate people’s features rather than mask any. The hair started loose and was worked into different updo’s along with the dress changes. The final look that Mazz created was bolder which could be used or added to, for an evening look.
Results
The shoot ran really well. It was a mini shoot rather than a full dressing of the venue so the aim was to highlight different areas of The Manor Rooms and show off this new place to future couples.
The fact that it was a lovely day really helped, as I was so desperate to get the bi-folding doors opened up to showcase the beautiful backdrops.
Now that the 2019 wedding season is beginning to quieten down, I am turning my attention to my 2020 couples.
