Today’s styled wedding shoot is utterly beautiful and brimming in sophistication everywhere you look; from the venue, to the floral arrangements, to the stationery, to the gowns – and lots more besides!

Set at the medieval Ilkley Manor House, the venue has only recently been granted its licence (oh, hello there gorgeous new wedding space!) and this showstopper of a shoot was the perfect excuse to bring in some fabulous local suppliers and spread the word about this great addition to the northern wedding scene.

Going for a timeless look – there’s crisp tones and soft spring palettes of peach and yellow echoed throughout the styling, with brass candlesticks, stoneware crockery and oak textures alluding to a more rustic seasonal vibe. With so much inspiration in store, we think we should hand things over to photographer, Jane, to get the lowdown.

Location & inspiration

Ilkley Manor House is a medieval manor house, backing onto Riverside Gardens on the banks of the River Wharfe in Ilkley. It has just received its licence to perform marriages and civil partnerships and the shoot was arranged to enable the venue to connect with local suppliers and to start marketing the space.

The inspiration was the rustic, timeless elegance of the Manor House itself and its location near the River Wharfe and Ilkley Moor. We wanted to capture the wild, timeless essence of springtime – crisp, simple style that appeals to a bride seeking a natural and romantic look on her big day

The shoot was organised by the venue, Ilkley Manor House. It’s such a beautiful old building with mullioned windows and beautiful beams inside. The upstairs rooms are bathed in beautiful light and the downstairs features an enormous walk-in fireplace. These aspects, combined with its location near the river and Ilkley Moor made it a very appealing shoot location and it was perfect for the simple, timeless theme the team wanted to achieve.

Styling

With its light and airy rooms with dark beams, we wanted to keep things simple and quite rustic, using spring colours – soft pinks, peaches and soft yellow mixed with whites – with lots of foliage and a minimalist bridal style; all created by L27 Weddings and Events.

We used a large floral installation piece as a focal point for the ceremony photography with plenty of foliage and spring blooms, all supplied by Floral Dance.

On the banqueting table we went for neutral classic linen with long tapered candles in brass candlesticks with brass cutlery and stoneware plates. Spring flowers in stoneware vases helped tie the table together. Chairs, supplied by Blue Sky Event Hire, were simple oak cross back chairs.

The cake, supplied by Copper Spoon Cakery in Ilkley, was pale blush and white to complement the flowers.

Attire

The dresses we featured were Emmy Mae Bridal and Charlie Brear with a veil by Made with Love Bridal, all supplied by The Aisle Boutique in Ilkley. Simple timeless pearl jewellery was supplied by Libby Jubb Jewellery.

For the groom, we went for a crisp blue Marc Darcy suit with Carvani shoes supplied by Jenson Samuel in Skipton.

Beauty

For the bride, we wanted a fresh look using nudes, taupes and browns on the eyes. Meanwhile, her hair was loose and undone to complement the minimal dress and accessories. Both the hair and makeup were done by Smink Makeup and Hair.

Results

The shoot was a joy to bring together – such a talented group of people who collaborated to create something really special in a beautiful venue. The highlight had to be the sunshine and blue sky, which made an appearance after weeks of rain, and the model couple, Eva and Tino, who smiled and laughed their way through the shoot, despite the freezing temperatures!
