Styled Shoot

Sarah Symonds

Today’s styled shoot, curated by Alison at Yewbarrow Flower Farm and photographed by the lovely Bridgette of Bridgette Ibbotson Photography, demonstrates how small and intimate doesn’t have to mean anything less than perfect.

Featuring not one but two utterly breathtaking gowns from the teams at Wtoo by Watters and Wendy Makin, a muted palette of chic and pretty pastel pinks and the homegrown floral stylings you’ve been searching for, we truly love the way the gorgeous Askham Hall has been dressed for the occasion.

If it has to be a small wedding for now, keep that fuss and extravagance to a minimum, and have your wedding your way. Smaller, sure, but still perfectly formed.

Bridgette says: ‘Intimate country garden wedding’ was the theme of this shoot. With everything that’s going on in the world right now, we wanted to show couples that they can have the most beautiful day without all the fuss of a big wedding. Yes, numbers might be lower but you don’t have to compromise on style.

The venue was somewhere we had all wanted to do a photo shoot for a while, so we took the opportunity whilst it was closed for lockdown.

Askham Hall is a very popular local wedding venue. They provide a really special setting, luxurious accommodation, exquisite food and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. They actually only allow one or, at the most, two weddings per week, so that each couple has time to decorate exactly as they wish and turn it into their dream party venue.

Kelly from The Little Kendal Cakery specialises in beautiful, artisan cakes. She is known for understated, contemporary cakes and sumptuous flavours using only the finest ingredients. There is no expense spared when it comes to her designs. Kelly said, for this cake design, she took inspiration from seasonal english flowers, recreating peonies and delicate sweet peas in pastels, while the textured finish to the icing added a contemporary yet relaxed feel to the design.

All of the flowers used were grown on Yewbarrow Flower Farm, a business focussing on the beauty of British blooms and all aspects of sustainability.

Sarah Edmondson, the lady behind White Orchid Print and Design, can be found in Keswick making her beautiful semi bespoke wedding stationery, each designed with a particular couple in mind. For our shoot she kept things classic and elegant, using a femine pink palette and a rose gold metallic.

The modern bride’s dream, Eden Wedding Boutique of Penrith supplied a strapless gown, the ‘Jillie’ from Wtoo by Watters, and a floaty V-neck gown, ‘Lilou’ from the French Collection by Wendy Makin.

Jade Hodgson, our bride, is a fashion and lifestyle blogger who also does modelling. She is a classic beauty and there’s literally nothing she doesn’t look divine in! Great style and an amazing personality.

We achieved lots of different looks with different styling accessories, flowers and rooms giving us a great portfolio of photos. The shoot perfectly fit our style of relaxed, emotive and fun wedding photography for laid back couples.
