GET SET GLOW. A STYLED BRIDAL SHOOT AT SKIPBRIDGE COUNTRY WEDDINGS

Sarah Symonds

Grab your wellies and hop in the Landy! We’re off into the fields of Skipbridge Country Weddings to catch the sunset for this gorgeous and glowing styled shoot.

With a seasonal palette to be proud of, Freya and Kayleigh, two local photographers, have pulled together the autumn styling you’ve been waiting all summer for. These two clearly do have an eye for a good photo as each shot is more beautiful than the last, and that golden hour lighting is perfection!

We love the pretty detailing and lightness of the femine Madi Lane gown paired with a contrasting masculine, rough denim jacket for that dont-care, country bridal cool as she climbs into the classic Land Rover. Tones are kept warm, flowers are wild and loosely arranged and our bride is rocking the ideal ‘I woke up like this’ relaxed boho hair. It might only be July but hey, let’s look ahead into autumn…

INSPIRATION

Freya & Kayleigh say: The shoot was organised by us after meeting and working with so many incredible suppliers last season. We wanted to put a shoot together that was a little bit different to the pretty, neutral wedding trend and a huge collaboration of new friends in the wedding industry. The theme of the shoot was based around Skipbridge, a natural, outdoor venue, and warm, bright, autumnal tones. From there, we gave everyone full creative license to do what they wanted. It was important to us that everyone had their own input, which was also why we had two separate photographers; to show and give everyone two different shooting and edit styles on the day.

LOCATION

Last year Freya was introduced to Bronte, the Event Manager at Skipbridge Country Weddings, through a good friend. After a successful pub quiz together and having a chat about what we all did over a gin and tonic, Bronte invited Freya up to see her family run venue. It’s such a unique wedding venue, situated in the heart of North Yorkshire with acres of outside space and quirky features, it really is the most beautiful setting.

STYLING

Emma Cox’s naturally inspired statement floral designs were always going to be at the centre of the shoot. We’re obsessed with her love for subtle detail, from arching, dancing stems, to untamed foliage, she brings to her arrangements a real sense of the free, wild movement only found in nature. Dahlias, tulips, mocha lisianthus, David Austin ‘Juliet Rose’, pink sweetpeas, chocolate cosmos, yellow mimosas and soft, caramel Unforgettable Roses were just a handful of the flowers that made up Emma’s stunning arrangements.

The table set up by Something Lovely Styling tied in perfectly with the natural vibe of the shoot, alongside the hanging handmade fabric banners from Head in t’Clouds and contemporary cake design from Copper Spoon Cakery.

The stationery from Somers Creative beautifully tied the theme together with delicate hand drawn rose pink flowers on the table number and place names, and in the addition of bright tassels on the menus.

Perhaps our favourite addition to the shoot has to be the two Land Rovers provided by Yorkshire Vehicle Hire. They brought along a green, 1950 vintage Series 1 and a gun metal grey Defender. They looked so fab in the grounds of Skipbridge, dressed with all of the autumnal florals by Emma.

ATTIRE

We chose a gown from Dotty Bridal by Madi Lane Bridal, who are known for their wildly romantic bridal designs. The floral, lace detailing of the dress juxtaposed perfectly with the edgy denim jackets, hand embroidered by Beespoke.

BEAUTY

Chrys Chapman created the perfect soft glam look. The natural, elegant makeup worked perfectly with the loose curls of Bel’s blonde hair. The star hair accessories provided by Dotty Bridal were a beaut finishing touch to the up-do Chrys created.

RESULTS

We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with, the shoot was everything we wanted it to be. The weather stayed dry (thank you England!) and, as cheesy as it sounds, the friendships that came from this collaboration are so special. The final images certainly show the love and time that went into the day we spent on set together. Looking back at the shoot, we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
