Get ready for vintage vibes featuring the sun, moon and stars and whole host of York-based suppliers in today’s styled shoot.
We’re bringing the celestial stylings of Natalia Willmott of UNVEILED Network Member My Billet Doux alongside the York Wedding Suppliers dream team.
The York Wedding Suppliers are a group of 25 members living and working in or around York. Natalia thought it would be a great idea to create a styled photoshoot to link all the talent together. These ideas translate perfectly for a post-COVID, intimate ceremony.

INSPIRATION
Natalia says: This shoot was created to showcase the York Wedding Suppliers skills and talents, and to create inspiration for our wedding couples. It was also for each member of the group to have a beautiful set of images to use in their marketing. Collaboration helps small businesses gain attention and sharing other people’s work can go a long way in this industry. We replicated the scene of a micro wedding, from getting ready to the ceremony, meal and first dance.
We chose the celestial theme because it seemed to fit well with the look of the small hall at the Merchant Taylor’s in York, with it’s stained glass windows, crests and lovely light blue room. We wanted to give the hall a romantic feel and the whole wedding a vintage Hollywood glamour look from the 1950’s. Each member of the York Wedding Suppliers made origami paper stars which were showcased on the hall’s needlework chairs with a gold sash to keep them in place. We ended up with hundreds of origami stars and scattered them on the windowsills, floral displays and piano, bringing the whole scheme together. This was also a great way to bring our group together and I imagine it to be a lovely way to connect all the members of the bridal party together.
We named the couple Leona and Anton, and created an intimate wedding. The stationery was white and dark blue with gold foil for part of the constellation. The groom arrived with gifts for his bride; a silk My Billet Doux cushion with a love note, a candle from PQ Soy Wax with the words “I can’t wait to marry you” on and a selection of jewellery.
A cushion with the rings was brought by a lovely flower girl and celebrant Anne Marie Ledson performed the wedding ceremony. There was a cutting of the cake and the couple seated at the table.
The pianist played Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra and other romantic songs, whilst a projection of stars covered the wall and the couple had their first dance. There was also a suspended moon covered in dark blue silk and origami stars for the couple to have their pictures taken.
LOCATION
Steeped in history, with medieval beams, stained glass windows, a roaring fire for cooler months and a magical atmosphere year-round, our 15th century hall provides a romantic and unforgettable venue for your wedding celebrations. Set in the heart of York against the city’s ancient walls, the Hall offers a choice of three spaces that can be used separately or combined.
STYLING
We styled the room around the origami gold stars and decided on a dark blue and gold theme throughout, mixed with vintage and antique silver pieces. The antique needlework chairs had blue and gold sashes holding blue origami stars. The floral bouquets and flower displays were all white with skeleton leaves and gold ribbon.
BEAUTY
Sonia Schofield envisaged light champagne tones on the eyes with some sparkle pressed on to the lids. The upper eye was lined with a black liquid liner, adding a little flick for a classic look. She chose a dark red for the lips and kept the skin fresh and dewy. The hair was inspired by tumbling Hollywood waves. This look would suit a bride wanting a classic and elegant look but with a twist. The dark red lip would especially suitutumn and winter brides.
ATTIRE
The groom was wearing a classic fitted blue suit and gold tie from Smart’s of York. He is also pictured outside writing a love note to his bride in a bomber style leather jacket.
The bride’s dress is a beautiful silk fishtail gown in champagne by Justin Alexander. It is strapless with a sweetheart neckline, beautiful gold embroidery and embellishment. It features a ruched bodice with pick ups and ruffled skirt. The back was dramatic with a full train and diamanté buttons.
The bridesmaid dress was also supplied by Bridal Reloved, and a style by Richards Designs. It was in dark navy with diamanté waist detailing. It has a V neck with flattering ruching and a soft flowing A-line skirt.
