We’re showcasing pastel perfection in today’s styled shoot, brought together by photographer Sophie Atkins as she comes out from behind the lens to join forces with Patacake’s Steph and create this gorgeous, romantic scene.
The team today have hit just the right side of traditional and pretty, so if that’s your jam, we think you’re going to fall head over heels for this look. Lots of pinks and gold, florals and fabric flourishes, and, amongst the white dresses, you’ll spot a pastel blue gown, ideal for your ‘something blue’! Unusual and efficient! We love it!
With a backdrop of Hirst Priory, we’re seeing shots inside and out, making the most of a versatile venue and the summer season. The perspex illusion tier in the all-white iced cake adds an unexpected twist on a classic design and there are multiple beautiful fairytale gowns to whet your appetite if you’re still searching for ‘the one’.
We catch up with Sophie to find out how the whole thing came together on the day.

INSPIRATION
Sophie says: When lockdown started to ease slightly, following the Coronavirus outbreak, Steph from Patacake got in touch and asked if I’d like to take part in a local styled shoot with a beautiful classic, bright mood board and subtle splashes of blush and gold to give a slight modern twist.
I jumped at the chance and you could tell from the group chat that we were all really itching to get back out there and start doing what we love again.
So, with only the colour palette in mind, we decided there was no plan for the day and to simply let everyone’s creativeness run wild! It turned out to be an absolutely incredible day, and we ended up with a stunning set of bright and timeless images we couldn’t be happier with.
LOCATION
Because we had planned on a bright and classic style, a beautiful venue was definitely something we wanted! Luckily, the wonderful Hazel at Hirst Priory was more than happy for us to use the venue and grounds for as long as we needed, and we were so grateful for the sunny weather that helped achieve that bright look we wanted! We also really loved how it’s such a versatile venue; a complete blank canvas for couples to make their own, along with the opportunity to use multiple locations, such as the woodland area and the vaults.
STYLING
Tammy from Howard’s Events created a beautiful set up in the main hall using the most amazing charger plates I’ve ever seen, loads of candles and rustic accents. Steph’s cakes were out of this world! She brought along a few new ones she had been working on and the design quality was absolutely stunning, you could really see how much time and effort she put into her work.
ATTIRE
Rebecca from Fallen Hero provided the suits, a classic tweed set and a more traditional wedding suit that she styled around the model. The dresses came from Lucy at Rosea Bridal, she has the most gorgeous taste and we couldn’t resist using her ‘baby’, a huge Rachel Allan dress, first. It fitted the model perfectly, and she looked so stunning in it!
BEAUTY
Because of Coronavirus unfortunately we couldn’t use a hair or makeup artist, so the model opted for a simple hair curl with a dark smokey eye, done by herself!
RESULTS
All in all the day was amazing! It was just what we all needed to get our creativeness out of hibernation and everything came together perfectly.
