Run away from the daily grind, escape reality and lose yourself in this woodland themed elopement shoot, perfect for your reduced post-Covid guestlist or just an intimate wedding for two.
We’re heading deep into the woods today for a styled shoot with a simple but effective palette of blue. Pick a spot around the picnic table and admire the beautiful and delicate stylings of the setting and the al fresco dining setup.
We’ve been chatting to Yorkshire-based photographer Nisha Keaton of Your Choice Photography to get the low down on this stunning styled shoot. Nisha has created the perfect scene, equal parts relaxed and stylish, to give you boho summer brides some stunning inspo and get your wedding planning underway. Over to you, Nisha…

INSPIRATION
Nisha says: We wanted to showcase how beautiful an elopement style celebration could look, using local venues, minimal vendors and an element of DIY style with just the couple. Blue with grey was our colour scheme, with plenty of foliage for our woodland elopement. Pantone’s colour of the year is classic blue, so we simply did a twist of classic blues.
LOCATION
Wilton Park is close to me and is somewhere I’ve visited over the years. At sunset it almost transforms – so quiet, beautiful and peaceful. It’s a place which is boasting with floral colour, a small lake and a beautiful woodland separating the lake and Bagshaw Museum. It’s the kind of place you’d pack your car up and head to for a picnic, a sunset date night or even a mini celebration. It’s perfect for those who want to do ‘just the two of us’.
STYLING
Given the cosy nature of the styling, I knew that Nicola from Just Lovely Styling, would be perfect. She’s incredible at the DIY, rustic and romantic vibe so knew she would nail this cosy romantic wedding picnic. For the romantic elemental touches, I really wanted to include calligraphy and soft textures so Nicola got free reign, within the colour code, to create the stationery. It matched beautifully.
Vanessa at Wild Flowers UK has been on my radar for some time, and we were meant to work together on a big project just as we went into lockdown. So, when she said she wanted to be involved, I just had to say yes. In keeping with the woodland surroundings, my only request was ‘wild’, the not-so-put-together look, and she created the most beautiful foliage table runner filled with purple flowers and a matching wild bouquet.
ATTIRE
Craig wore his own attire, inline with the blue theme, as it was important to keep a casual and cosy style, where suitable. Abigail wore a stunning bespoke, soft lace ivory number from Wendie, at Perfect Fit Bridal Couture. Something effortless and elegant, yet with daring touches unique enough for the non-traditional bride.
BEAUTY
Due to the pandemic, Abigail did her own hair and make up for the occasion. With soft curls that were wearable and fuss free, alongside a romantic makeup look. The key was to make this achievable and doable for any bride finding herself in the situation of needing to do her own beauty.
RESULTS
The shoot was done, from setup to pack away, in under three hours. The aim was to show a beautiful intimate setting using what you have locally, your favourite treats and a beautiful sunset, which we can all agree we did. The highlight was probably, aside from the lovely sunset and capturing just how in love these two are, seeing just how spot on Wendie and her design skills were for this dress. Because of the current situation, there was no try on or fitting prior to the shoot. She came armed with a needle and thread on the evening of the shoot and, just a couple of mini stitches later, it fit the model like a glove.
