Beach babe and wedding photographer Esme Whiteside had a vision for a sunset, coastal proposal fit for a romantic movie.
Living by the coast is inspiring and doesn’t photographer Esme know it. That golden glow that only comes from the perfect sunset coupled with the glistening water and warm sand – it basically drips romance.
Miles Workshop by photographer Emmy at Vanitas Life created a waterside proposal shoot to inspire couples and show off some of their fellow local suppliers skills, and we’re crazy about the results.
These images are simply stunning, reflecting the completeness of a couple in love and capturing their perfect moment. And in case all that excitement worked up an appetite, feast your eyes on the styled grazing spread picnic! THIS is what a good date should look like and it might even be one to forward on to your other half if they are yet to pop that particular question! Let’s dive in…

INSPIRATION
Esme says: Inspiration for this styled set from Miles Workshop was a real beachy, wet’n’wild engagement, picnic style, super romantic and intimate. The look was really lifestyle, relaxed and laid back. Think balmy evening at the beach, elevated picnic and perfect proposal vibes, followed by a steamy dip in the sea.
LOCATION
I live right on the beach and I love it here. It’s such an incredible location and so varied with the dunes, the grasses, the flats and the sea shore. It’s just perfection at golden hour, super romantic and creates the most beautiful glow.
STYLING
Styling was all by Stories Of Events. Sarah created an elegant picnic and grazing setup, with champagne, cosy rugs and cushions for the ultimate duneside celebration grazing.
ATTIRE
Laid back, relaxed, casual outfits but still kept things stylish. Minimal and simple, with a crisp white shirt and jeans for a super beachy relaxed look that kept things realistic.
BEAUTY
Hair and makeup was done by Amy, our model. She went for a natural and glowy look to accentuate her features, with hair loose and down to blow in the wind.
RESULTS
Highlights would definitely be the gorgeous sunset we were blessed with! It’s always beautiful at St Annes, I’m super lucky to live here, but it’s best on either really moody days, or with those glorious sunsets. It was amazing to get in the water at the end and soak up the last of the sun.
WHAT’S NEXT
The Miles Workshops by photographer Emmy at Vanitas Life are amazing. Her next one at Dorfold Hall will be fabulous. I’m also now planning my own workshop with Han at the Giraffe Shed for spring next year too, which will be a mixture of learning and incredible bridal content.
