From familiar hometown territory to unique, one-off jewellery pieces handmade in London, today’s shoot from accessories brand Bridal by Sarah Roberts spans the distance between old and new, incorporating a little of both, and has given us something shiny to covet.
Showcasing the talents of UNVEILED Network Member Bridal by Sarah Roberts, this shoot really focuses on the stunningly delicate and intricate hair pieces created for brides who are after something fancy to finish their look for the big day. Paired perfectly with gowns that will have you swooning and an autumnal bouquet that complements the look perfectly, this is an incredibly tasteful shoot and we think you’re going to love it. Sarah is multi-talented and is also the face behind Bridal Hair By Sarah Roberts too, and she’s certainly done an amazing job with models Rebeccah and Madeline, who both look effortlessly beautiful in situ. We’re seeing loose, undone, boho styles which only make the jewels sparkle and stand out all the more. Let’s hear all about it from the mastermind herself…

CONCEPT
Sarah says: During lockdown 1.0 Adam and I were really keen to work on a wedding. We decided it was a great time to plan a shoot, and I could do with the new photos for my website and social media too. I started asking fellow wedding suppliers if they wanted to get involved, and we ended up with a great bunch of local people who are all such lovely humans too.
LOCATION
We had planned to do the shoot at Kevington Hall, a listed stately home. However the week before our shoot, the new ‘rule of six’ Covid-19 restrictions came into force. We’ve therefore had to postpone our shoot at Kevington until next Spring (we’re still looking forward to it!) and rethink. We were really disappointed and, like most couples going through this horrible situation, we had to come up with a new plan. We chose to reduce numbers and take the shoot outdoors to the gorgeous Oxleas Woods, located on the brow of Shooters Hill in South East London, just behind my house. It’s an amazing backdrop with amazing hidden bits of history. It’s also the place I grew up – I’ve always lived in this area so I know it well – and it’s still where my husband, our nine year old son and I walk our dog!
STYLING
We just used the natural elements we found on location as a base, all old walls and creeping vines. Both models held flower bouquets supplied by London-based Mimi Fleur. We chose to keep it simple, only using the hand held flowers, my hair accessories, Dawn’s dresses and a little cameo appearance from my black labrador, Hattie!
ATTIRE
We chose the dresses from Chislehurst Bridal. Dawn who owns Chislehurst Bridal has a fantastic range of dresses at her boutique and is so helpful and knowledgeable. She was even there with us on the day of the shoot, fitting the dresses and helping with anything she could.
The dresses are by Essense of Australia. We really loved the sleeves on Madeline’s dress and thought it would give us that boho, autumnal look when paired with the pampas grass.
BEAUTY
We wanted to go for boho, soft, romantic vibes. Madeline’s hair was worn down and flowing, with delicate jewelled hair vines – one with freshwater pearls, the other with Swarovski details. Rebeccah had a more traditional look, but I still wanted the hair to be soft, an updo which has a slightly undone look. Rebeccah also wore my side jewelled headbands.
We got ready at my home, which is also my hairdressing studio in Eltham, London. Some of the shots are in my back garden and show us getting ready in my home. We then walked from my house to the woods, up the road with the two models holding their dresses up off the floor. Luckily I only live eight doors away from the entrance of the woods, but it was still fun to watch them walk up the road together all made up. Not a sight you see often!
RESULTS
The team worked really well together. The woods and weather gave us a gorgeous day with some fabulous, natural shots. It was also the first time we have all worked together so it has given us even more ideas for our next shoot. Plans are already whirling through my head!
