Flowers Everywhere! A Floral Wedding Styled Shoot at The Chilli Barn

Sarah Symonds

Flowers, flowers everywhere! Today’s featured shoot demonstrates that there’s no such thing as too many flowers! Get ready for this team of suppliers to unleash a bold palette of pink petals to brighten up even the dullest day.

Sarah at UNVEILED Network Member Leafy Couture wanted to create a wow-factor and she’s certainly done just that with this styling! And with so many other incredible florists involved, of course this shoot was always going to be a riot of colours and florals.

That tablescape is really a thing of beauty. Heaped with yet more fresh flowers, the hanging chandelier structure is an epic talking point! Your table may now be smaller as your guestlist shrinks but that doesn’t mean it can’t be incredible.

The trailing ribbons on the bouquet are so feminine and fun and we love the modern calligraphy style invitations and stationery suite, stark and refreshingly plain against the hot pinks, orange and softer peach tones. The simple white iced four tier cake really lets the bright blooms sing, showcased in the centre of a cacophony of flowers. And on the table, there are little pretty yet edible sweet treats nestled in amongst the florals.

There are plenty of behind the scenes setup shots so you can see the talented suppliers at work and really get a feel for the skill that’s gone into this masterpiece. Let’s hand over to Sarah to spill the beans…

CONCEPT

Sarah says: We wanted to showcase the best of autumn colour with a twist, and create a few showstopping, wow-factor pieces for the wedding day setup to show how a small wedding can still be utterly fabulous.

In these crazy times, we wanted to show how a couple doesn’t have to compromise on a super flowery full look for their wedding day, even if it’s now only for a few people. We also wanted to show how colour can really lift the feel of your wedding day, so we used a palette of pinks, oranges and purples with gold accents.

LOCATION

Chilli Barn is the perfect imitate setting for a low number wedding, as well as a venue for a marquee or yurt wedding for larger numbers. We love the rustic but neutral backdrop that it has. Taking the opportunity to create a tablescape outside shows couples how it can still be achievable to have all the details and a stunning backdrop.

STYLING

Working with our wonderful supplier friends we created this celebration of colour, texture and beauty. We focused on creating large statement pieces to show off the ceremony, wedding breakfast and cake.

Where The Ribbon Ends made the cake and dessert board, Typical Type provided lighting and table, and Bertie and Fred supplied the silk ribbon. Our stationer was UNVEILED Network Member Raspberry Toast and the cake stand was supplied by Bramble Sky.

Alongside Leafy Couture, our floristry assistants included Astilbe and Rose, Dreamboats and Carousels (another UNVEILED Network Member!), Flowers by June Kelly and Blush and Bloom Event Styling. We used a lush mix of seasonal floral to style the shoot including roses, locally grown dahlia, hydrangea with lots of little details such as chilli peppers and crab apples. We embraced the trend for lush foliages and used eucalyptus, ivy and asparagus fern. We styled the chandelier table from typical type to create a really opulent and super special dining experience. We dressed the napkins and adorned the table with dyed silk ribbon and floral touches. We used simple crockery with gold touches to add a hint of glamour.

ATTIRE

Bridal Emporium, based in the heart of Leeds, are an independent bridal boutique offering gorgeous gowns for the fashionable, boho and modern bride to be. The dress featured is Seeley by Wtoo. It’s a beautiful beaded A-line gown. The men’s garments were by Haworth Menswear and we wanted a modern yet classic feel, a pop of colour as part of the outfit to really lift the florals.

BEAUTY

UNVEILED Network Member Natalie Willingham did the makeup and hair for the shoot. The hair was given a tousled glam feel with florals weaved in to complement the floaty feel of the dress. Makeup was a soft bronze smokey eye using Stay The Night shadow stick collection from Delilah Cosmetics, and fresh, dewy skin with a nude peach lip.

RESULTS

It was a styled shoot workshop where we show aspiring florists how to get the most out of their florals and how to work with the industries finest suppliers.

We have a full diary of workshops over the year, from beginners to experienced florists who want to up their styled shoot game.
