Today on the blog we’ve got a gang of all Lancashire-based suppliers creating amazing things with a bold red colour scheme, lots of lovely, natural beauty and some truly striking resulting imagery.
A limited palette can sometimes be just the ticket and this all red, seasonal inspired shoot proves just that. When you know a colour suits you and brings out your best feature, why not run with it? Our stunning redhead ‘bride’ demonstrates how effective that can be in today’s featured shoot, brought to you by the lovely Jules Fortune, photographer extraordinaire.
And we can’t not talk about the leaves at Eaves, not when the Japanese maple tree is practically glowing the most stunning shade of red, lending itself perfectly as the ideal backdrop for our romantic, deeply in love couple to stare adoringly into each other’s eyes. Sometimes you don’t need much in the way of contrived styling, especially when nature just does the most incredible things!
Here’s Jules now answering our burning questions with all the BTS details…

CONCEPT
Jules says: My wedding photography is all about being natural, joyful and colourful. Autumn is my favourite season for stunning colourful landscapes and I love photographing weddings at this time of the year more than any other. It’s still beautifully warm, but the sun is a little lower, bathing everything in a gorgeous soft, golden light.
The shoot was nicknamed ‘Sweet Autumn Love’ and it was my idea and concept. I pulled together a group of talented local wedding suppliers to help me showcase the ideas I had in mind.
LOCATION
Eaves Hall is a popular venue in Lancashire, and I have photographed many weddings here over the years. It has the most stunning grounds. Their garden looks beautiful and full of colour at any time of the year, but in autumn it really shines
I have actually photographed several autumn weddings at Eaves Hall too, but having the opportunity and time to play around with leaves and super colourful maple trees creatively was a great opportunity.
STYLING
The whole theme was based around autumnal colour so it had to be a red head model for our bride, this was in my mind from day one. Matt, our hairstylist at Freddies For Hair recommended Theadora, our beautiful autumnal redhead.
Our florist for the shoot was Milly Davey Flowers, styling our bouquet and flower crown to look like autumn flames. The beautiful headpieces were loaned to us by Saint Beth Official and our awesome jackets were supplied by the ladies at Bird and Bone. They’re great for keeping that autumn chill off on your wedding day and a fantastic gift to yourself for after the wedding. Who would not want one of these stylish jackets?
The gorgeous, autumn-inspired cakes were supplied by Lilli Oliver Cake Design. Our cakes were styled to match with Milly’s flowers.
ATTIRE
Bridgewater Menswear, based in Colne Lancashire, styled our groom, Lewis. I wanted a fresh modern look so the checked suit, braces and dickie bow set that style off perfectly. The cut of the three-piece suit looked on point too. I brought the hat myself and asked Lewis to wear his own trainers for some images to add a fresh edge to the look.
UNVEILED Network Member Love Story Bridal are based in Preston. Steph, the owner, dressed our beautiful bride in two dresses for this shoot. The look I wanted was fresh, youthful and timeless. Jewellery was by Cedar Dreams.
BEAUTY
Lydia Marie, our MUA, and I discussed makeup looks ahead of the shoot. We wanted a bold statement look for our bride, that had all the tones of autumn, but also would complement Theadora’s pale tones. We then had a couple of lip colour changes throughout the photoshoot just to freshen things up a little.
RESULTS
The shoot was so much fun. I had picked a great team who really put 100% effort into the shoot and it shows. It was so rewarding to see all my ideas coming together. I honestly loved it.
One of the highlights was lying the couple onto the leaves. I have wanted to do this for a real wedding forever. Maybe a brave couple will try this for me again in the future!
My other highlight was the Eaves Hall Japanese maple trees. They were so beautiful. Talk about full-on autumnal colour! They couldn’t have been more perfect.
My personal aim, as well as getting the whole shoot together, was to try new ideas and hopefully highlight to future brides how stunning autumn weddings can be.
We’re all now looking ahead to what will hopefully be a brighter and busy 2021 summer of real weddings! The whole of the wedding industry, like so many other industries, has been on pause for almost 12 months, so I am excited to get back in the saddle and make more memories with all my couples, enjoying my dream job and passion along the way.
