In Bloom. A Colourful Wedding Shoot at The Old Glasshouse

Sarah Symonds

It’s springtime in Yorkshire today on the blog, with this colourful and cheerful styled shoot, just bursting with florals. Well, what would you expect with a whole team of florists on the case?!

The perfect contrast of big, blousy, soft and fluffy blooms with stark, bold neon lights creates a vibrant and happy vibe in this gorgeous shoot, set up as a workshop by Leafy Couture at their own Old Glasshouse workshop. The photos really demonstrate how important it is to make the best use of flattering, natural daylight.

It comes as no surprise to us that the treats look incredible and the tablescapes are beautiful, complete with hand-printed linens. Fashion-wise, if contemporary, sleek, couture bridal wear is your thing, take note of this stunning gown by Australian designer Rachel Rose Bridal, the perfect choice to tie in to the spring theme.

We’ve been chatting with Sarah of Leafy Couture to find out how the shoot – featuring some of our incredible UNVEILED Network Members – all came together and what her best bits were.

Sarah says: This was a styled shoot workshop and the inspiration was colour! We wanted to celebrate spring tones and colours, moving away from the bleak greys associated with winter. We then also wanted to add a fun element, using the bespoke streamer backdrop and neons.

Our location was The Old Glasshouse, our Leafy Couture workshop in Arthington. We loved the contrast of the Yorkshire stone with the vibrant pops of colour. We wanted to shoot outside so the colours and the florals could be seen in all their glory. Celebrating outside on a wedding day in the sunshine is the absolute dream.

Styling was done by us, Leafy Couture, plus floral assistants Emmy Floral, Elizabeth Grace Floral, Paradise Blooms, Flowers abloom and Le Petite Florist.

We used beautiful vibrant blooms in ombre shades, from pale whites to blush to pink to lilac, with pops of hot tones. There was an abundance of textures of ranunculus, clematis, dicentra, delphinium, spirea and tulips filled coloured glass and punch bowls.

We used blue tablecloths to lift the colour of the flowers and create a layered feel. Willamo’s Blue Eva tablecloth and Olive napkins are hand block printed in Jaipur and perfect for creating a fun tablescape. The Eva tablecloth comes in two sizes and is sourced from Willamo Designs based in leeds.

Gayle from Where The Ribbon Ends created a buffet of incredible treats and a divine trio of cakes. We wanted this shoot to be a real showcase of all the treats you could have, from cake pops to bespoke chocs. We dressed gold rimmed glassware with strawberries and tied posies of florals on the napkins.

Neon signs from Love Lights The Way lit the space creating the fun loving mood and complemented the backdrops perfectly.

The banner backdrop was by All Her Glory Designs. This is the backdrop of pink dreams, gorgeous in photos and the perfect way to make a statement and add some sparkle to your wedding.

The invites, menus and place settings were bespoke printed stationery from Raspberry Toast, with coloured foil metallics and tassels. They worked beautifully with the rest of the shoot as it brought fun, elegance and individuality.

The dress we used was from The Little Pearl Bridal Boutique and it was the Forrest by Rachel Rose Bridal, a couture Australian Designer. This sleek fitted gown has a real modern edge to it, with the square neckline and nude colour tone. The embroidered floral and leaf detailing, throughout the skirt and bodice, and accentuated with pearls was the perfect fit for this super bright and stylish shoot.

We had such a blast. The team worked hard to create this pop of inspiration. We wanted to show clients that you can really play with colour and achieve a really full opulent look. We also showed that small can be utterly beautiful.

The feel of the shoot was fun and glam, and Josey captured it beautifully whilst doing justice to all the suppliers’ hard work.
