Out On The Town. A Romantic City Elopement Shoot at Frederick Street Townhouse

Sarah Symonds

Are you even ready for this level of romance? Probably not but we’re giving it to you anyway. Hold onto your seats for an urban elopement with passion galore in today’s featured styled shoot set on the streets of Birmingham city centre.

This shoot really takes the biscuit (in a good way, of course!) The fantasy of just up and eloping as a twosome and taking on the big city together comes to light in this shoot, as we follow real couple Tamara and Elliot, celebrating the tender moments and passion of a couple in love.

We’re legit obsessed with how beaut this bridal look is, from the cut of the dreamy Maggie Sottero gown to the smaller details of the exquisite Elizabeth Ann Norris bling. This style paired with the soft and sweet pale pinks creates a truly romantic and ethereal loo. This, juxtaposed with the city as a backdrop and the proof that you don’t have to leave town to get away from it all, is sheer runaway perfection.

Fancy something similar yourself? We’ve been speaking to photographer Sophie to find out how to pull it off with this much panache.

Sophie says: We really wanted to do a shoot that was completely stripped back with regards to both the décor and budget, that celebrated 2021, the year of elopements and couples getting married their way, in any way that they can.

The ‘City Elopement’ styled shoot was all about spontaneity, and an unrivalled love that not even a pandemic could stop! Couples in love choosing to run away and proving they can still have it all!

We chose Birmingham city centre, around Victoria Square, for the backdrop as it’s a beautiful blank canvas surrounded by gorgeous old buildings which we knew would look really chic. We also used the Frederick Street Townhouse.

We went for beautiful rose pink and soft romantic colours, to align with the romance of running away and eloping in the nearest courthouse. The flowers were all done by In Bloom Flowers.

We chose the beautifully soft and dreamy Rudy dress by Maggie Sottero to complement Tamara’s feminine and youthful look and to contrast the stark backdrop of a city centre location. Reimagining the idea that a city elopement should be simple and stripped back, we went against the grain with a swishy tulle and beaded gown giving us all those beautiful bridal feels. The gown came from Romantic Dreams Bridal.

To complement the relaxed and dreamy elopement styling, Elizabeth of Elizabeth Ann Norris Jewellery selected contemporary hammer textured gold wedding rings. These minimalist rings are easy to wear and work well as the happy couple run off into the sunset.

Sheree of Siren Hair Art and Ceri Rocks Revival chose a contemporary, minimalist headband in shades of pink and white with a slight sparkle to go with the city elopement vibe. The headband was created from recycled beads making it perfect for an eco-conscious and modern bride.

Sheree opted for a modern, ‘undone’ bridal hairstyle that was young, fresh and romantic. The statement headband from Rocks Revival brought everything together and gave the look a true bridal feel.

The makeup artist who created the perfect look for us was Charlotte Lily Makeup.

The shoot was amazing. It was so incredible to get back to work and see everyone’s vision come together. Tamara and Elliot are a real life model couple based in Leeds, so it was lovely to work with them.

It was actually scheduled to rain all day but we went out armed with umbrellas, determined to make it work as we would for a real wedding and, by some magic, the rain held off the entire time.
