Hollywood Glamour X The Yorkshire Dales – A Romantic Wedding Inspiration Shoot at Grassfield Hall

Alexis Forsyth

Grassfield Hall, a Grade II listed building in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales that specialises in small and intimate weddings, is our captivating backdrop today for what is surely one of the most elegant and beautifully styled autumnal shoots to grace our blog!

Featuring a sprinkling of Hollywood pizazz and all the rustic feels of the Dales, this shoot brings together gorgeous styling elements at every turn for something positively dreamy and Pinterest-worthy.

Warm blush pink hues melt into the understated period setting, complemented by delicate florals and accents of gold for a subtle glow throughout. The attire is just as striking, exuding vintage charm, and with a nod to James Bond, no less!

There is plenty to pore over, so let’s get started and delve into the concept some more, crafted by the wonderful Elegance Bridal Studio and Knotted in Love.

Concept

The purpose of the shoot was to showcase Grassfield Hall but to also create autumnal images to inspire brides who are looking for glitz and glamour with an intimate guest list. The shoot labelled ‘When Hollywood Glamour met the Yorkshire Dales’.

Location

Julia from Elegance Bridal Studio discovered Grassfield Hall on Instagram and instantly fell in love with the venue, as it’s perfect for intimate weddings. We love how, from the outside, there is a feeling of grandeur. It’s not until you walk through the main door that you can truly appreciate the work and dedication Lisa and Alex have put into the building. Everything about the venue oozes sophistication and class, which perfectly fitted the theme for our styled shoot.

Styling

When it came to styling, florals were a major feature. For the ceremony, Karon from Meadows & Mulberry created a stunning crescent floral piece, made up of fresh and dried flowers for the backdrop. In addition, she also put together statement pieces to highlight the entranceway. As we couldn’t get enough of these pieces, we wanted to make sure we featured them throughout the day.

Our dessert table was created by the incredible Miss Helen’s Bakes, with a beautifully delicate three-tiered cake surrounded by delicious cupcakes, biscuits and cake pops.

For our décor. UNVEILED Network Member Hire & Style provided perfect pieces. As the colours of browns and pinks were quite muted, we wanted to use gold accents, through for example the candlesticks and tableware, to add a touch of elegance and glamour.

For our stationery, Leanne from Celebrationery Goods had the perfect semi-custom suite with earthy tones and understated elegance.

Attire

Black tie from Cameron Ross Formal Hire, was the perfect choice for the shoot, as the venue is traditional yet modern, and just like James Bond, it never dates.

We featured two gowns; the first dress for the ceremony was ‘Annie’ from the Elegance Collection. The champagne and ivory lace complemented the bride’s blonde hair beautifully and this looked sensational.

For the afternoon shoot, the bride wore ‘Sienna’, also from the Elegance Collection. This is a stunning fitted sparkly gown that we styled with a feather wrap, and it looked fabulous next to the groom, giving a James Bond feel to the suit, which we timed perfectly with the release of the latest Bond film.

Taking the venue, colour theme, and season into account, everything we chose blended together perfectly and looked incredible.

Beauty

For the bride’s hair, we wanted to continue with the glamorous theme. For the ceremony, Hair by Ria created a gorgeous Hollywood curl, which was teamed with a beautifully delicate hair accessory by Elsa Rose Boutique. For the evening look, Ria transformed the model’s hair into a glamourous updo.

As for the make-up, UNVEILED Network Member Charlotte aka CMLH Makeup created a bold look with a smoky eye and a statement red lip – something that any bride can easily carry into the evening.

Results

The day of the shoot was full-on, with a whole array of suppliers taking part, including acoustic duo Chesqua and Danny and celebrant Penelope Jayne.

A highlight for me was seeing Julia’s initial idea come to life. The whole team worked incredibly hard to deliver such beautiful elements.

The English weather wasn’t on our side, but we made the most of the period rooms Grassfield has to offer. Towards the end of the day, Sophie, Harrison and our models braved the drizzle, and we were rewarded with truly romantic images, perfectly illustrating how a little rain doesn’t have to put a dampener on a couple’s big day!
