Today’s amazing styled shoot shows that you don’t always have to have the perfect blue sky weather for your big day, and in fact some greyer skies can really bring the drama, adding some extra impact to your resulting photos and all courtesy of mother nature!
With a fabulous team behind her, Nicky Paul of Auburn Amore has pulled off a gorgeous setup showcasing the team’s many assorted skillz.
Featuring a perfectly seasonal palette, warm, moody tones and a modern, high-contrast edit, this is a beaut of a shoot, resulting in some super romantic, heavy autumnal inspo for those end-of-summer through to late November brides and grooms.

CONCEPT
The inspiration was ‘moody autumnal’, exploring our concepts of autumn while illustrating diversity in the UK wedding industry. An exceptional, ethnically diverse team of wedding professionals have really come together to create some inspirational content. Our shoot features an outdoor wedding ceremony, a tablescape for wedding breakfast, an intimate evening dinner or elopement dinner, a cocktail hour and that just wed feeling we are calling ‘the first walk’! The vision was for a modern aesthetic, infused with layers of warm colours, and contrasts.
LOCATION
I wanted to shoot in a manor or country house to reflect the style of the shoot. Barton Court was recommended by a friend of mine. After visiting, I thought it was stunning. I loved the charm and architecture. Also, I loved the story of the house that James and Linda told me.
The aged salmon exterior, sumptuous aubergine walls in the drawing-room, and terracotta brickwork of the old barn were perfect the backdrop for the delicious, earthy palette used in the shoot.
STYLING
Gorgeous florals were the backdrop of the shoot; floral floor planters, arch decor and bouquets were all presented in an ombre, autumnal scheme, from nudes, mocha, toffee, cinnamon, to rust and burnt orange. The arrangements were brimming with textures and lush foliage. We think the depth in the floral photos looks like Pre-Raphaelite art. These were all created by Nicky Paul at Paradise Blooms. (Wedding Planner and Stylist, Nicky also worked on the styling, through Auburn Amore Weddings.)
We had a complete statement cake thanks to Enrique Rojas at Have Some Cake, it’s modern, bold and charming. The tiered wedding cake, in warm rust, decorated with seasonal flowers and touches of brushed copper was just delightful. The sugarcraft is incredibly realistic, especially on the craspedia and ranunculus.
Matte, modern, wedding stationery by Abbie Worton echoed the toffee and cinnamon tones of the shoot. The stationery was embellished with a touch of florals, in earthy tones. The mobile bar was courtesy of Peggy Sue’s Bars and was actually a vintage horse trailer.
The stunning tablescape was created using contrasting materials and textures. Using matte black plates and candle holders created a modern look, while the gold candle holders illuminated the table. This was also replicated by using black and gold cutlery. The scheme was unified with the use of sumptuous rust table linen and candles. The beautiful tortoiseshell glass added another layer of dark detailing to the tablescape.
ATTIRE
Our stunning real-life husband and wife couple, Tawonga and Ed, are dressed in elegant attire. Tawonga wore an out of this world wedding gown; featuring a lace bodice, with a sassy skirt, completed with individually sewn feathers. To complement his wife, Ed wore an endearing, velvet dinner jacket in deepest ochre with black lapels.
The dress was by Ronald Joyce and the jacket was from Moss Bros.
BEAUTY
We wanted the makeup to be quite natural and understated. The makeup artist, Beau Smith, used browns and toffee colours that would complement the shoot. Hair was by Deborah Esther Artistry.
RESULTS
We love the smouldering embraces of our real-life couple. The aim was to shoot a high glamour shoot, with a moody autumnal feel and we NAILED IT! There are some amazing shots of the dress and florals. The highlight would be the tablescape as it looks amazing. We can’t wait to style another one!
