Heaps of pretty wedding inspo incoming! We’ve got a picture-perfect day at the romantic Wrenbury Hall for you today, as we feature Jen and David’s beautiful and traditional wedding close to their home.
With barely a hint of a specific theme, subtle and tasteful touches of autumnal grandeur and a soft pink palette that would have almost anyone swooning, today’s featured real couple have pulled off their idyllic day with panache.
It’s serving dream wedding realness and then some. So if soft, feminine tones, a strapless mermaid gown, heaps of Sweet Avalanche Roses and a party that lasts long into the night is your idea of wedding bliss, then you won’t want to miss this one!

Proposal
David proposed in August 2018 on our favourite walk in Wales when I was heavily pregnant and really didn’t want to go for a walk in the pouring rain. David insisted he wanted to stretch his legs so off we went for a romantic walk along the Dwyfor River, where the very important question was asked. David had prepared well with non-alcoholic champagne and glasses. I was perhaps more impressed with the fact that he didn’t break the glasses than the ring!
Setting
We got married on the 13th of November 2021. We should have originally been married in October 2020 but, due to the pandemic, we had to reschedule twice.
Our wedding was at Wrenbury Hall, Nantwich. Both the ceremony and reception took place here. We chose this venue due to it being close to our home in Nantwich, the beautiful grounds the hall is set in and the traditional style of the building. The venue enabled us to have the wedding we dreamed of, in all one location and we are able to treat the hall as ‘our home’ for the whole weekend.
Theme
We just wanted a traditional wedding, celebrating with our family and friends. It was autumnal themed, with pale and dusty pink tones.
Dress
I wore a strapless mermaid style gown by Madison James, purchased from the The Bridal Lounge in Cuddington.
Groomsmen
The groom and his men wore navy checked three piece suits from Peter Posh.
Bridesmaids
My bridesmaids wore embellished sweetheart maxi dresses from Little Mistress. Our daughter Darcy was a flower girl and wore a handmade ‘Francis’ dress from Little Betty’s Boutique.
Beauty
The bridal party all had hair done by Carly from the Secret Salon at Mortimer House and makeup was done by Amy Ellen.
Photographer
Kate McCarthy was our photographer. We would certainly recommend her! Not only was Kate a fantastic photographer and captured some beautiful images of our day, she went above and beyond her call of duty and helped out with a whole range of extras, such as advice on what to expect throughout the day, wedding dress adjustments and even allowed our daughter to be her partner in crime for parts of the day!
Styling
Flowers were provided by Living Colour Floral Design. We took inspiration from natural garden scenes using Sweet Avalanche Roses, Hydrangeas and Honesty in blush pink and ivory tones, accompanied by lush natural foliage. Living Colour Floral Design made the reception room look spectacular with a mix of fresh flowers and candles too.
Hipswing provided the lighting of the room, which included a fairy light canopy, uplighters, and a light up dance floor and glitterball. We also had confetti handmade by me and my mum and Love Lights provided by Wrenbury Hall.
Cake
Our cake was a four tier sponge cake, iced in white icing with handmade pastel pink and lilac flowers cascading down. It was made by Helen Allmark of Allmark Cakes. We also had a three tier cheesecake provided by The Cheese Shop, Nantwich. I actually used the Brides Up North Website for inspiration on cakes (and dresses!).
Dining
We served a selection of canapes during the drinks reception and then the wedding breakfast began with roasted butternut squash soup, mixed seeds, sumac and crème fresh. Mains were corn-fed chicken breast, thyme fondant potato, crisp pancetta, confit carrot puree and seasonal vegetables. Dessert was a lovely trio of desserts; lemon meringue pie, chocolate cup with cappuccino mousse and rippled Italian meringue, whipped cream and berries.
Entertainment
Nicky Philips provided acoustic music during the drinks reception, then The Funtime Frankies got the party started for the evening reception, with a DJ provided by Hipswing.

Having Kate McCarthy as our photographer was just brilliant. Living Colour Floral Design produced the most amazing floral arrangements which were way beyond what we were expecting. The girls are so talented and made all of our arrangements and bouquets look absolutely stunning.
Finally, we would certainly recommend Wrenbury Hall as a wedding venue to anyone. From our initial contact at an open day, throughout all the uncertainty over whether our day could go ahead and the changes we had to make, they could not have been more helpful and understanding. Katie was brilliant and great in offering suggestions on different aspects of the day. We opted for the ‘Celebrate for Longer Package’ so took over the hall for the whole weekend and we were made to feel so welcome. We were able to treat the hall as our home but help was on hand for any queries or assistance we needed. It was perfect for us.
Best bit
The whole day! For me as a bride, it was walking down the aisle and seeing David at the end waiting for me. I felt like during the ceremony we were in our own little bubble just the two of us together. We both wish we could relive the whole day again as it really was so beautiful and special.
Honeymoon
We went to Cornwall for three days and stayed at The Old Luckett Station Cabin with breathtaking views of the Tamar Valley AONB and Dartmoor National Park.
Advice
Our advice to another couple would be to enjoy every moment of the day and take time to just be with each other on the day too. All the little extras are lovely but just remember all you actually need is the bride, the groom and a registrar to get married, so try not to get hung up on the little details!
