The aim of the shoot was to showcase the Yorkshire Equestrian Centre as an up-and-coming wedding and events space. They’re looking to incorporate weddings into their offerings, so there was obviously the equestrian theme to appeal to horse lovers, but also a mix of country glam to appeal to brides and grooms looking for a rustic edge.
The planning and styling of the shoot was undertaken by us, VSM Consultancy, a social media marketing and events planning business. We specialise in content creation and offer consultancy services for both venues and businesses, providing support in their marketing strategy and branding. Additionally, VSM Consultancy also delivers impressive weddings and events, locally and globally, working with clients on their special occasions.
Julia Healey was the photographer behind the shoot, offering a range of services including full-day wedding photography packages. Her style is described as fun, vibrant, and timeless. In addition to weddings, Julia also provides pet pawtrait photography, capturing lovely memories of pets.
LOCATION
The shoot was extremely fun to do, especially because there were so many aspects covered in one day. We shot by the quarry and then in the woodland and the field with the horses, which was a really special element. It felt very natural and we think it’s something that would really appeal to people who are after a rustic and boho chic style wedding.
As mentioned, the location of the shoot was Yorkshire Equestrian Centre near Leeds and was selected to showcase their impressive potential as an up-and- coming events venue. Traditionally offering a range of equestrian services and facilities in the historic Huddleston Quarry, the site also boasts acres of countryside views and woodland.
Totem Tipi provided tipi hire for the shoot. They offer services for various events, including parties, weddings, and corporate events. Their tipis can create a unique and atmospheric space to suit different guest numbers and needs.
STYLING
The colours used throughout the series were inspired by rosettes from horse shows. The bouquets etc were wildflowers in an array of colours, to keep with the country glam style theme.
There were two florists in attendance at the shoot. Yvonne Dennis runs a Thirsk-based floral design studio specialising in vibrant and personalised event and wedding floral arrangements, and Frenchie Loves Flowers is a luxury floral design company based in Yorkshire. They offer bespoke floral designs and event styling services for clients in and around the surrounding area.
The Little Cottage Cakery made the cake for the shoot, Based in Yorkshire, they offer delicious and delicate cakes and treats for various occasions, including weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries.
York Event Walls provided the spectacular sequin backdrop for the shoot. The company provides a variety of event walls such as foliage, sequin and tropical backdrops plus celebration carts, donut walls and cupcake walls – all that can be used as stunning backdrops for weddings, parties, and other special events to create a unique and Instagram-worthy atmosphere!
ATTIRE
The dresses were chosen and provided by Zoe, owner of Treasured Brides in York. The first dress featured a lace bodice with beautiful button detailing on the back and a gorgeous train. This was a very romantic, feminine look. The second dress was a little more adventurous, with flared sleeves and really kept with the countryside, boho bride vibes. This was worn with bright pink hunter wellies, to show the more lively, fun side of the shoot.
The catering was arranged by F4D Events (Friends 4 Dinner!). They’re a quality catering company based in Yorkshire and they specialise in creating innovative and bespoke meals, dishes and sharing boards for events and special occasions.
BEAUTY
The hair and makeup was arranged by the talented Ellie Ryder, who is an experienced Yorkshire-based hair and makeup artist. Eleanor is known for her attention to detail and ability to create both natural and glamorous makeup styles for bridal and other occasions. She has a passion for enhancing the natural beauty of her clients and making them feel confident and beautiful on their special day.
The shoot’s model, Emily Hope, is a creative freelancer whose background is built on radio presenting, journalism and content creation. She is also the newest member of VSM consultancy, working as their Content Creator. Eleanor skilfully achieved the natural, effortless bridal glam look on Emily, with loose curls on the hair and natural eyeshadow and blush tones for the face.
RESULTS
The shoot was a huge success and the weather was (almost!) kind to us! We shot in various areas of the stunning Centre and we even had a surprise visit from a beautiful classic mustang, which was just fab to engage with. It really highlighted the classic yet cool country vibe.
