Today’s classically romantic styled shoot is a real rosy beauty. We’re heading beyond the wall in the Helperby estate, to their hidden gardens for some beautiful, botanical styling but with a gorgeous golden glow and a warm autumnal twist.
What a magical place the English countryside is when the leaves start to turn a hundred different shades of pretty! If you’re hoping for some autumn hues for your wedding vibe but still fancy something in the fresh air and involving a marquee, you won’t want to miss this shoot, crafted to highlight the inspiring season by an impressive team of local Yorkshire industry suppliers we know and love.
The Walled Garden is available for you lovely couples to view all year round but keep a look out for a wedding showcase in the spring/summer months, so you can see just how picture perfect this venue really is!

The team said: We wanted to highlight that an outdoor focused wedding can still take place out of high season months. The theme was an autumn/winter style with a warming colour scheme, lighting and candles.
The autumn colours were at the forefront of the ideas as the trees around Helperby Walled Gardens looked stunning with the burnt oranges and reds. The centrepiece of the shoot was the amazing stretch tent marquee by Empty Quarter Events. Giving a cosy and inviting atmosphere that was enhanced by the custom-made timber walls.
LOCATION
The Walled Garden is a hidden garden set in the quintessential village of Helperby, just 20 minutes from York. The location really set the tone of the shoot, having the venue in mind was the best way to create the stunning results.
This venue has bags of original features, including the cupola where outdoor ceremonies can take place, as demonstrated perfectly by Meg Senior Celebrant, and those beautiful original stone walls surrounding it.
The venue is a marquee venue, which works so well with stretch tents and other outdoor options – an autumn wedding would work so well with the addition of the bespoke timber walls by Empty Quarter Events.
STYLING
All the styling was provided by Limelight Wedding Emporium. Using lots of candles, fresh flowers and autumnal colours, we gave the shoot a richness within the stretch tent. The centrepiece was a bespoke top table design with hanging beaded chandeliers. This can be decorated with fresh flowers to give the wow factor. The colours were a blend of dark green, blush pink and raspberry tones. Styling up some relaxed trestle tables for the guests also added a relaxed garden feel.
Fresh flowers were supplied by Wonderland Blooms, with wildflowers by Into The Meadow. The cupola was dressed for the ceremony with two floral columns, which picked up the colours so well. Providing an archway effect, which can be simply reused in the stretch tent, is a great cost effective style for a wedding.
The bridal bouquet and pocket meadow were flowered in the same style.
The stationery was supplied by Fox Glove Press, a business based in West Yorkshire offering bespoke stationery for couples. The floral notes were carried through to these designs and picked up the raspberry colour to give a warm tone for autumn, but with the secret garden as overall inspiration. They were just stunning.
The cake was provided by SweetChic UK. A three-tier masterpiece with dark green as the main colour was bold but inspired for autumn styling. The floral notes again brought the garden theme to the design. Fresh flowers finished the base, complete with an oversized raspberry bow. Sugar flowers also decorated the cake beautifully. Sweet Chic UK also provided some extra sweet treats that could be used as favours for guests.
ATTIRE
The dress was provided by Bridal Affair, an elegant design with chiffon sleeves by GBS Herve Paris which was perfect for an autumn wedding. The accessories were also provided by Bridal Affair, and the tiara was by Richard Designs and jewellery by Athena Bridal Jewellery.
The suit was a dark green stunning three piece set by Fallen Hero, a Marc Darcy suit, a twist on the country vibe with an elegant feel. Teaming it with a dark blue thin tie and pocket meadow really paired well with the bridal bouquet. This style of suit would be perfect for the winter months, providing the cosy warm feel.
BEAUTY
The hair was by Hair By Ria, gorgeous cascade of curls, pulled into an up style with soft touches to complement the accessories. Makeup was by Georgia Eve MakeUp. This was a daytime style, keeping the look natural for the shoot. A natural lip colour blended in perfectly with the colours of the roses in the bridal bouquet.
RESULTS
The weather wasn’t on our side, with high winds, but it showed that you are able to still do everything you planned even in the Great British weather! The overall highlight was when everything came together! Creative teams always know how to pull it out of the bag!
