A couple of weeks ago Brides Up North took part in a very special collaborative photo shoot with a group of amazing Yorkshire wedding suppliers, on location in the tiny village of Masham, North Yorkshire.
.
It all began when Hayley of The Harrogate Wedding Lounge and I were standing around chatting and admiring the dresses in her gorgeous boutique (as you do!) and she commented that the fab Cat Hepple (of Cat Hepple Photography) and herself had floated the idea of a styled bridal shoot inspired by the concept “Electric Avenue” – no flowers, no fuss, just beautiful, beautiful gowns with colour pop glitter accessories and shoes a la Harriet Wilde thrown into the mix, all against a wholly contrasting backdrop.
.
Well she clearly didn’t need to ask me twice. Right up my street! Or should that be, my Electric Avenue!

So after much pinning of mood boards over at Pinterest, lunches at Rudding Park (entirely necessary), phone calls, emails and tweets, we gathered together a few more partners in crime – step forward Steven of Forever Film (more from him shortly!) and Victoria Farr Hair & Make Up Artist, and we were set.
.
Hayley came up with the brilliant idea of shooting in the market town of Masham – as far from neon as you can imagine – and got in touch with Bah Humbugs sweet shop, who were more than happy to be our hosts and line our stomachs with sugar!

What made the day even better for me was that our models for the day were two of my very closest friends, Kylie (a lawyer by day!) and Nicholas (my nearest thing to a little brother!). Nick and Kylie were brilliant sports and had no trouble getting up close. Well, girls… would you have trouble!?.
.
This is probably the last time that Mr NICHOLAS SHAW (remember the name, we discovered him!) will work without a whopping fee as he is currently a finalist in the TOP MODEL UK competition, being judged at the London Hilton on 17th March 2012 – with the editor of Vogue on the panel no less! I die! There is a judges’ prize and a public vote and whilst I reckon he’s a serious shoo in for both, it would be amazing if you could take a moment to vote for him by clicking here. Go on! He’ll love you forever!

With HUGE thanks to Masham’s fabulous independent retailers: Bah Humbugs Sweet Shop, The Cutting Room, W.S Rogers & Sons Butchers, Fancy That Tea Rooms, Garners Greengrocers & Corks & Cases.
.
Get your rock on girls. As the fabulous Cat Hepple would say: Be you, but braver!
