Laura says: The launch of Look Darling firmly into the North West wedding industry brought a fabulous flirty 50’s-feel photo shoot with a subtle red, white & blue theme. It was a fantastic shoot to work on, if not a rather lengthy day!

After starting our shoot in The Vincent Hotel, we ventured further into the inviting atmosphere of Southport for the second part. For our outside venues, we also used some Southport businesses, who had kindly opened their doors and allowed us the use of their premises; Pudding & Pie café, Kernaghan Books, and the Sweet Memories sweet shop, all based in the Wayfarer Arcade, as well as June The Florist, next door to The Vincent Hotel.

All the businesses were very supportive and seemed as excited as we were to have gorgeous models parading around Southport in 50’s style wedding dresses! I can’t thank them enough for allowing us to take over parts of their shops to capture the stunning images you see here.

Emma of Look Darling says: “I am delighted to have some beautiful images of the new additions to the Look Darling collections, particularly the new ‘Ruth with lace’, and the ‘Fiona’ from Fancy New York, which is from their latest season collection and already proving popular with brides. It’s great for brides to be able to see the dresses on real women too – both Tanya and myself are a size 12 (not a size 8!) and I’m very much the wrong side of 30, but they are flattering for real bodies and all age groups. I think the images really reflect how wearable the styles are, and how the 50s style can be worn in so many different ways – modern, classic, elegant and funky”

We finished the day in the fantastic set up of The Vincent’s cocktail lounge, where we teased our long-suffering models with jubilee coloured cocktails, promising them as a treat for all their hard work. This is another point where The Vincent excelled in their accommodation, providing us not only with the location and cocktails but also with a talented cocktail mixer, who unfortunately got covered in cocktail from posing – and right at the beginning of his shift too!

The shoot was a resounding success and a super-fun day out. This is the feel of the shoot we wanted to convey and we certainly felt it whilst shooting. I personally thoroughly enjoyed the shoot, not just being the organisation and styling behind it, but working with such wonderful suppliers, who each brought their talents and creativity to culminate in this exciting shoot. I am also super excited to have a fabulous video to go with this equally fabulous shoot. Charlene from Love Gets Sweeter did a perfect job capturing the fun and hard work that went into this shoot. I just want to take this last opportunity to personally thank everyone for their input into this shoot, from the last minute [life-saving] hair stylists and accommodating venues all around Southport, to the incredible suppliers and models for helping to bring everything together.
